Fractional CTO for early-stage startups

Higinio Martí

Helping founders ship and scale without costly technical mistakes

I help non-technical founders avoid expensive technical decisions at the moments that matter most: when building their first product and when the system starts to scale. I provide clear technical judgment to move fast without compromising the future.

How I help early-stage founders

Business-Tech Translation

Turn business goals into clear technical decisions so everyone moves in the same direction.

Risk Reduction

Reduce technical risk during pre-seed, seed, and system transition moments.

Architecture & Stack

Choose a tech stack that fits your current stage and does not block future growth.

MVP to Production

Move from MVP to real users without rewrites or shortcuts that slow you down later.

Team Scaling

Build a lean technical team while avoiding expensive hiring mistakes.

Not sure what you need right now? Let's figure it out together.

My approach

I integrate as part of the team so decisions are fast and contextual.

I avoid micromanagement so teams stay autonomous and motivated.

I prioritize simple and reversible decisions early to reduce long-term risk.

I am explicit about what to build and what not to build so there is no guesswork.

I move fast with focus while keeping a healthy technical foundation.

My goal is not to write more code but to ensure technology drives the business forward instead of holding it back.

Relevant experience

Co-Founder & CTO — AI B2B SaaS

Challenge: From idea to production in a complex industrial environment.

  • Defined architecture, stack, and technical roadmap from zero.
  • Worked directly with industrial clients to align product with real workflows.
  • Took the product to production with paying customers.

Fractional CTO — AI-Driven Healthcare SaaS

Challenge: Agentic AI systems in a regulated environment with non-technical founders.

  • Designed and built the MVP from scratch with agentic AI architecture.
  • Guided pilot implementations across multiple hospital chains.
  • Balanced delivery speed with regulatory constraints.

Engineering Manager / Team Lead — Predictive Maintenance

Challenge: Scale, legacy systems, and very high data volume.

  • Led teams processing tens of millions of daily measurements.
  • Migrated legacy systems and defined architecture standards.
  • Acted as bridge between product, data, and engineering.

I work best with founders who value judgment, clarity, and deliberate technical decisions.

This is a good fit if

  • You are a pre-seed or seed startup building your first product.
  • You value technical judgment even without a technical background.
  • You seek focus, clarity, and deliberate decisions.
  • Your B2B project relies on technology as a key piece of the business.

This is probably not a good fit if

  • You are looking only for cheap execution.
  • There is no real commitment from founders.
  • There is no space for dialogue and thoughtful decision-making.

Common questions founders ask before working together

It depends on the stage of the company. For MVP or early stage work, I usually engage for three to six months. During growth or technical transition phases, engagements can extend longer. The scope and intensity are always adapted to the startup's pace and real needs.

My primary focus is strategy, architecture, and technical decision making. I can write code at key moments such as validating a concept or unblocking a critical issue. My main value, however, is helping you avoid building the wrong thing in the first place.

Yes. This is one of the most common scenarios. I work alongside existing teams to bring structure, judgment, and clarity. I do not replace the team. I help them make better decisions and move with more focus.

I work remotely with flexible availability aligned to the team's timezone. I am usually integrated into daily communication tools and take part in recurring working sessions. The level of involvement adapts to each phase, with higher intensity during critical moments and lighter involvement during stable execution.

No. I primarily work with European and US based startups. Language and location are not limiting factors as long as there is strong alignment in values, communication style, and expectations.
